Lake Carmel is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Kent in Putnam County, New York, United States. Lake Carmel is a small manmade lake located in the Town of Kent, in Putnam County, New York. It takes its name from the nearby town of Carmel, and in turn gives it to the community of Lake Carmel surrounding it.

The Putnam County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in the hamlet of Carmel, New York, the county seat of Putnam County. Located on Gleneida Avenue on the shore of Lake Gleneida, it was built in 1814, two years after the county was established. Putnam County Courthouse is situated 2½ miles south of Lake Carmel.
