Custer Observatory is an astronomical observatory located in Southold, New York. It is owned and operated by the Custer Institute. Facing Peconic Bay and Shelter Island, Custer's location is host to some of the darkest skies on Long Island as a result of the comparatively lower levels of light pollution in the area. Custer Observatory is situated 1½ miles east of Peconic.
