City of Rome
Rome is a city in Oneida County, New York, United States, located in the central part of the state. The population was 32,127 at the 2020 census. Rome is one of two principal cities in the Utica–Rome Metropolitan Statistical Area, which lies in the "Leatherstocking Country" made famous by James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales, set in frontier days before the American Revolutionary War.| Tap on a place to explore it |

Fort
Fort Stanwix was a colonial fort in present-day Rome, New York. Its construction commenced on August 26, 1758, under the direction of British General John Stanwix, but was not completed until about 1762.

Fort Bull was located at the Oneida Carry in British North America during the French and Indian War. On October 29, 1755 Governor William Shirley ordered Captain Mark Petrie to take the men under his command and to build a fort on the upper landing of Wood Creek to protect the Oneida Carry.
