Bangor is a town in Franklin County, New York, United States. The population was 2,231 at the 2020 census. The town is named after Bangor in Wales. It is an interior town of the county, located west of Malone. Bangor is situated 4½ miles south of Wylie Cemetery.

Malone, founded in 1802 in Northern New York by Richard Harrison, is named for Irish Shakespearean scholar Edmund Malone. Located just outside the Adirondack Park, its streets are lined with fine Victorian architecture.
