The Geauga County Courthouse is located at 100 Short Court Street in Chardon, Ohio. The cornerstone was laid September 10, 1869 and construction was completed on August 20, 1870.

Chardon is the county seat of Geauga County. It is in Ohio's "snowbelt" and receives an average of 106 inches of snow each winter. In 1996, the National Guard was sent in after the city got about four feet of snow in less than a week.
