Mohegan Bluffs

The Mohegan Bluffs are large clay cliffs about 150 feet high, located on the southern shore of . They got their name because the battle of the Niantic and the Mohegan took place here in the mid 16th century.

During the winter months Block Island is the very picture of a sleepy, seaside town, with a local population of around 900 people. In summer, the island's population explodes to nearly 10,000 at any given time, and many thousands more on busy weekends or holidays. is situated 1½ miles northwest of Mohegan Bluffs.
