El Moro is an unincorporated community and a census-designated place located in and governed by Las Animas County, Colorado, United States. The population of the El Moro CDP was 216 at the United States Census 2020. El Moro is situated 3½ miles southwest of Johns Lake.

Drop City was a counterculture artists' community that formed near the town of Trinidad in southern Colorado in 1960. Abandoned by 1979, Drop City became known as the first rural "hippie commune". Drop City is situated 4½ miles southwest of Johns Lake.
