El Cuartelejo is a region in eastern Colorado and western Kansas where Plains Apache lived with Pueblo people. The region was settled by Plains Apache, but after the 1680 Pueblo Revolt, Pueblo people, possibly Picuris, fled New Mexico north into Kansas by 1696, where they built a seven-room stone pueblo.
