Ely State Prison is a medium security penitentiary located in unincorporated White Pine County, Nevada, about 9 miles north of Ely. The facility, operated by the Nevada Department of Corrections, opened in July 1989. Ely State Prison is situated 2½ miles north of Hercules Mining District.
