Alakanuk is a second class city in the Kusilvak Census Area of the Unorganized Borough in the western part of the U.S. state of Alaska. As of the 2010 census, the population of the city was 677, up from 652 in 2000. Alakanuk is situated 6 miles southeast of Putmik Slough.
