Tahakopa River
The Tahakopa River flows southeastward through the Catlins, an area of the southern South Island of New Zealand. Its total length is 32 kilometres, and it flows into the Pacific Ocean 30 kilometres east of Waikawa, close to the settlement of Papatowai.Places in the Area

The Catlins is a hilly, forested coastal area in the south-eastern corner of the South Island. Its attractions include coastal scenery, marine mammals such as fur seals, sea lions and rare Hector's dolphins, rare yellow-eyed penguins, native forest walks and birdlife, and the Jurassic fossil forest of Curio Bay.
