Purakaunui Falls

The Purakaunui Falls are a cascading three-tiered waterfall on the Purakaunui River, in The Catlins of the southern South Island of New Zealand. As one of very few South Island waterfalls away from the alpine region, it has long been a popular destination and photographic subject. Purakaunui Falls is situated 3 km northeast of Purakauiti.

Maclennan is a small settlement in The Catlins, an area of the southern South Island of New Zealand. It is located 20 kilometres southwest of Owaka. From 1915 until its closure on 27 February 1971, the Catlins River Branch railway passed through the village, and the station building and goods shed still stand today. Maclennan is situated 4½ km west of Purakauiti.

Caberfeidh is situated 5 km northwest of Purakauiti.
