Rimu, originally known as Upper Woodstock, is a small town in the Westland District of New Zealand's South Island. Rimu is located some 8 kilometres by road south of Hokitika and located on the south side of the Hokitika River.

Kaniere is a small town in the Westland District of the West Coast region of New Zealand's South Island. Hokitika lies to the north-west, and the Hokitika River flows past to the south-west. Kaniere is situated 2½ km northeast of Rimu.
