The Trent River is a river of the West Coast Region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows east from its source in the Kaimata Range northeast of Otira, turning north to reach the valley of the Ahaura River via the Tūtaekurī River.Places of Interest

Harper Pass, previously known as Hurunui Pass or sometimes Taramakau Pass, is an alpine pass between Canterbury and the West Coast in New Zealand. It was the most important crossing for Māori to obtain pounamu. Harper Pass is situated 4 km southeast of Trent River.
