Purangi is a locality east of Inglewood, New Zealand, situated on the banks of the Waitara River. It is within the traditional tribal lands of Ngāti Maru iwi. Today, Ngāti Maru's headquarters are at Tarata. The Marae is called Te Upoko o te Whenua. Purangi is situated 8 km east of Whareoruia Stream.

It is situated on the Stratford–Okahukura Line and it is not far from State Highway 43. Huiroa is situated 10 km south of Whareoruia Stream.
