Tauherenikau River

The Tauwharenīkau River, formerly known as the Tauherenikau River, is a river of the Wellington Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows initially southeast from its sources on the slopes of Mount Hector before turning southwest to run down a long valley in the Tararua Range.

Featherston prisoner of war camp was a camp for captured Japanese soldiers during World War II at Featherston, New Zealand, notorious for a 1943 incident in which 48 Japanese and one New Zealander were killed. Featherston prisoner of war camp is situated 3½ km north of Tauherenikau River.

Tauwharenīkau is a rural locality and a statistical area in the South Wairarapa District and Wellington Region of New Zealand's North Island. The locality is on SH 2 about 5 km east of Featherston and 7 km southwest of Greytown by road, and the statistical area covers the Tauwharenīkau River valley and plain north of SH 53. Tauwharenīkau is situated 4 km northeast of Tauherenikau River.

Featherston is a town in the South Wairarapa District, in the Wellington Region of New Zealand's North Island. It is at the eastern foothills of Remutaka Range close to the northern shore of Lake Wairarapa, 63 km north-east of central Wellington and 37 km south-west of Masterton. Featherston is situated 4 km northwest of Tauherenikau River.
