Oruru is a populated place in the Oruru River valley in Peria, Northland, New Zealand. It is part of the Oruru-Parapara statistical area on the southern side of Doubtless Bay.

Wiremu Hoani Taua, who later became the first Māori person to be appointed as the head teacher of a native school, served on the Peria Native School Committee until 1900.
