Treaty House

The Treaty House at Waitangi in Northland, New Zealand, is the former house of the British Resident in New Zealand, James Busby. The Treaty of Waitangi, a document that established the British Colony of New Zealand and which holds importance in the country's national mythos, was signed in the grounds of the Treaty House on 6 February 1840.

Flagstaff Hill

Flagstaff Hill overlooks the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Directly north of the small historical village of Russell, the flagstaff on the hill played a significant role in early relations between the local Māori of the Ngāpuhi iwi and early British colonials. Flagstaff Hill is situated 3½ km east of Waitangi.

Haruru is a residential and commercial locality in the Far North District of New Zealand. State Highway 11 runs through the locality. Puketona is 10 kilometres west, and Paihia is 4 kilometres east, The name means a continuous noise or roar in the Māori language, which refers to the sound of Haruru Falls, a five metre high broad waterfall about a kilometre away. Haruru is situated 3 km southwest of Waitangi.
