Locality
Whakapara is a village and rural community in the Whangarei District, six kilometres north of Hikurangi, twenty-two kilometres north of central Whangārei, and eight kilometres south-east of Hūkerenui, in the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. Whakapara is situated 4½ km southwest of Kaimamaku.

Hūkerenui is a settlement in Northland, New Zealand. State Highway 1 passes through the area. Kawakawa is northwest, and Hikurangi is southeast. The New Zealand Ministry for Culture and Heritage gives a translation of "large cascade" for Hukerenui. Hūkerenui is situated 9 km west of Kaimamaku.
