Rere is a small community in the northeast of New Zealand's North Island. it is located in the upper valley of the Wharekōpae River in remote country in the foothills of the Huiarau Range, inland from Gisborne.

Otoko is a small settlement west of Te Karaka in the Gisborne District of New Zealand's North Island. State Highway 2 runs through Otoko on its way from Ōpōtiki to Gisborne. In 2023 Otoko had a population of 57. Otoko is situated 9 km northeast of Rere Falls.
