The Te Ārai River is a river of the Gisborne Region of New Zealand's North Island. It flows generally north from its origins in rough hill country 20 kilometres north of Nūhaka before veering northeast past the township of Manutūkē to reach the Waipaoa River five kilometres from the latter's outflow into Poverty Bay.Places in the Area

Manutūkē is a settlement in the Gisborne District of New Zealand's North Island. It is located to the west of the city of Gisborne on State Highway 2, close to the mouth of the Waipaoa River. The name was officially modified to include macrons in 2021. Manutūkē is situated 9 km northeast of Te Arai River.
