Kuratau is a small village north of Omori and south of Whareroa Village, on the western side of New Zealand's Lake Taupō. The Kuratau Power Station was built on the Kuratau River near the town and completed in 1962. Kuratau is situated 2½ km south of Rangitukua Reserve.

Omori is a small village north of Pukawa and south of Kuratau, on the western side of New Zealand's Lake Taupō. It is primarily a bach community. A new jetty and boat ramp was built in 2012. Omori is situated 4 km south of Rangitukua Reserve.

Pukawa or Pukawa Bay is a bay and a small township on the southern shores of Lake Taupō on New Zealand's North Island. It is off State Highway 41 between Turangi and Taumarunui, in the Taupō District and Waikato region. Pukawa is situated 5 km south of Rangitukua Reserve.
