Ongaonga is a village in Central Hawke's Bay District of New Zealand's North Island. It is located 20 kilometres west of Waipawa and a similar distance from Waipukurau. Ongaonga is situated 7 km northwest of Woodbrook.

The town is located 7 kilometres northeast of Waipukurau and 46 km southwest of Hastings, on the northern bank of the Waipawa River, a tributary of the Tukituki River. Waipawa is situated 8 km east of Woodbrook.
