Gwacheon is in Gyeonggi, just south of Seoul. The city grew as a planned city in 1980s and 90s when many of the government offices and facilities was moved from Seoul.

Galhyeon-dong is a dong of Eunpyeong District, Seoul, South Korea. It is divided into two sub-districts, Galhyeon 1-dong and Galhyeon 2-dong. The northern boundary is Jingwan-dong, while Bulgwang-dong lies to the east. Galhyeon-dong is situated 3½ km southwest of Gwacheon-jeosuji.
