Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee in 1979 after David Statham, Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey meteorological assistant, , 1957–58, and Horseshoe Island, 1958, who was lost with G.A. is situated 2½ km northeast of Lainez Point.

is a prominent peak, rising to 1,100 metres northwest of in the southwest part of , , in , Antarctica. is situated 3 km northeast of Lainez Point.
