The Palais du Pharo is a palace in Marseille, southern France, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, west of the Old Port. It was built in Second Empire style by Emperor Napoleon III for Empress Eugénie, starting in 1858. Palais du Pharo is situated 260 metres north of Université de la Méditerranée Aix-Marseille II.

Fort Saint-Nicolas is a former military fort in Marseille. It's the sister fort to Fort Saint-Jean which was constructed at the same time. After an uprisings in 1630–31 and the Fronde in 1648–1652, the young King Louis XIV had two large forts, fort St. Fort Saint-Nicolas is situated 290 metres east of Université de la Méditerranée Aix-Marseille II.
