Pizzo Nero

Peak

Pizzo Nero is a mountain of the Lepontine Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Valais and Ticino. Its summit is the tripoint between the valleys of Geretal, Gonerli and Bedretto.

Pizzo Gallina is a 3,061-metre-high mountain in the Lepontine Alps of Switzerland, overlooking the Nufenen Pass. Administratively, the summit is located on the border between the municipality of Obergoms, to the north-west and in the canton of Valais, and the municipality of Bedretto, to the south-east and in the canton of Ticino.

Nufenen Pass is the second highest mountain pass, after Umbrail Pass, with a paved road in Switzerland, at an elevation of 2,478 metres. It lies between the summits of Pizzo Gallina and the Nufenenstock. Nufenen Pass is situated 3½ km southwest of Mettligrat.

Obergesteln was an independent municipality until January 1, 2009, when it merged with Oberwald and Ulrichen to form the municipality Obergoms. Obergesteln is situated 7 km west of Mettligrat.

Gletsch is a hamlet in the German-speaking half of the canton of Valais, located in the upper Rhone valley, called Obergoms, 2.5 kilometres, southeast below the Rhone Glacier's mouth and itself the headwaters of the Rhône. Gletsch is situated 8 km northwest of Mettligrat.
