Short Mountain is a traprock mountain located in south central Connecticut 5 miles north of the city of Meriden. It is part of the narrow Metacomet Ridge that extends from Long Island Sound near New Haven, Connecticut, north through the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts to the Vermont border. Short Mountain is situated 1½ miles northwest of South Kensington Fire Department.

Cathole Mountain, 515 feet, is the lowest peak in the trap rock Hanging Hills of Meriden, Connecticut. The rugged southern ledges of the mountain rise steeply 150 feet above the city of Meriden. Cathole Mountain is situated 2 miles south of South Kensington Fire Department.

Lamentation Mountain, or Mount Lamentation, 720 feet, is a traprock mountain located 2.5 miles north of Meriden, Connecticut. It is part of the narrow, linear Metacomet Ridge that extends from Long Island Sound near New Haven, Connecticut, north through the Connecticut River Valley of Massachusetts to the Vermont border. Lamentation Mountain is situated 2½ miles east of South Kensington Fire Department.
