Minami-ku is one of the eight wards of the city of , . As of March 1, 2012, the ward had an estimated population of 138,471, with 66,706 households and a population density of 5,307.44 persons per km2. The total area was 26.09 km2.

, sometimes called Carp Castle, is a castle in , Japan that was the residence of the daimyō of the Hiroshima Domain. The castle was originally constructed in the 1590s, but much of it was dismantled in the Meiji era, and what remained was largely destroyed by the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945.
