Astore is the main city of Astore District in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. The city is situated at an altitude of 2,546 metres. The major Astore–Burzul Road, which linked Gilgit to Srinagar was indefinitely closed in 1978 following the development of the China–Pakistan Karakoram Highway. Astore is situated 9 km west of Dirlung Gah.
