Zgorzelec

Gmina Zgorzelec is a rural gmina in Zgorzelec County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, on the German border. Its seat is the town of Zgorzelec, although the town is not part of the territory of the gmina.

The Town Hall of Görlitz has been the place of the city's administration and jurisdictions since 1350. It was first mentioned in a document by the Görlitz council in 1369.

Görlitz is Germany's easternmost town. It sits across the Neiße River from its Polish sister city of Zgorzelec. It is very well preserved, and survived the Second World War more or less intact.
