The Garden of Surging Waves, is a Chinese garden and city park currently under construction in Astoria, Oregon. The Astoria City Council selected the garden as city's bicentennial legacy gift in recognition of Astoria's Chinese heritage.

Fort Astoria was the primary fur trading post of John Jacob Astor's Pacific Fur Company. A maritime contingent of PFC staff was sent on board the Tonquin, while another party traveled overland from St. Louis. Fort Astoria is situated 1,100 feet east of Astoria City Hall.

It is famous for being the terminus for the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the setting of the movie The Goonies, and its Victorian-era homes built into the hillside overlooking the Columbia River.
