It is an E-shaped, two-story brick building which served from 1923 to 1980 as a hospital, and, up to 1936, as the only hospital in Walker County. Walker County Hospital is situated 1¼ miles southwest of Jasper Fire Department Station 2.

Named in honor of Sergeant William Jasper, an American Revolutionary War hero, Jasper was settled around 1815 and incorporated on August 18, 1886. Jasper is situated 2 miles south of Jasper Fire Department Station 2.
