Akita Castle refers to the ruins of a Nara period fortified settlement located in what is now the city Akita, Akita Prefecture, Japan. It is also sometimes referred to as “Fort Akita”. Akita Castle is situated 1½ km northeast of Shin’akimoku Kōgyō Kōjō.

It hosted the 2001 World Games, and it is the largest swimming pool in the prefecture. Akita Prefectural General Pool is situated 1¼ km south of Shin’akimoku Kōgyō Kōjō.
