The Palace of the Nation is the official residence and principal workplace of the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is situated in Gombe, in the northern part of Kinshasa, next to the Congo River. National Palace is situated 3½ km north of Basoko.

The school is devoted to teaching the arts, and was founded in 1943 as the École Saint-Luc à Gombe Matadi by Belgian catholic missionary Marc Wallenda. Académie des Beaux-Arts is situated 2½ km northeast of Basoko.
