Until 2009, Dalsbruk was the central settlement of the former municipality of Dragsfjärd, when the municipalities of Kemiö, Västanfjärd, and Dragsfjärd merged to form Kemiönsaari. Dalsbruk is situated 10 km south of Gallkosholmen.
