Gadhdhoo, is the second most populated island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. It has its own dialect of Dhivehi which is considerably different from northern and mid-Maldivian speech.

Maavarulu Airport is a domestic airport located on Maavarulu, one of the islands of the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll in Maldives. Scheduled Flights started on 4 July 2020. Maavaarulaa Airport is situated 3½ km northeast of Gaddhoo Island.
