Onverwacht is the capital town of Para District, Suriname. Onverwacht started as a wood plantation with the same name and has existed as early as 1667. Onverwacht is situated 3½ km west of Hoy Kreek.

Paranam is a town in the Para District, Suriname. Paranam was created in 1938 for a bauxite factory. In 1965, an aluminium smelter was added. The factories closed down in 2017. Paranam is situated 8 km east of Hoy Kreek.
