Thamusida was originally a Punic river port located in the present-day towns of Kénitra and Mehdya in Morocco. Under the Roman Empire, it formed a part of the province of Mauretania Tingitana, and starting in the seventh century it was occupied as part of the Arab conquests. Thamusida is situated 3½ km southeast of Dhar Jdadoua.
