Mount Ara is a polygenetic stratovolcanic cone in Armenia's Kotayk Province. The town of Zoravan and a nearby church, Gharghavank, are located along the mountain's lower slopes. Ara is situated 3 km west of Guloyi.

The village was established in 1972–80, during which time it was called Pokravan, for the purpose of developing a large stockyard or feedlot that would ultimately be utilized to breed a target of eleven-thousand animals. Zoravan is situated 5 km south of Guloyi.
