It is an intermediate stop on the 1,000 mm gauge Reichenau-Tamins–Disentis/Mustér line of the Rhaetian Railway. Rabius-Surrein railway station is situated 480 metres west of Marias.

After a 1984 avalanche destroyed a Baroque chapel on the same site, the Disentis Abbey decided to build a new chapel. St Benedict’s Chapel, Sumvitg is situated 2 km west of Marias.
