Encarnación is the most southern city of Paraguay and often called The pearl of the South. The Rio Paraná separates it and the Argentine town of Posadas.

San Juan del Paraná is one of the 30 districts of the Itapúa Department, Paraguay. It is located at the Argentina–Paraguay border, to the west of the city of Encarnación, the capital of the department, and was founded by Joaquín de Alós y Brú in 1789. San Juan del Paraná is situated 6 km west of Parque Quitería.

Posadas is a pleasant, small, accessible city in Misiones province in the Mesopotamia region of Argentina. It makes a nice break on the long ride between Iguaçu Falls and Buenos Aires.
