Chestermere is a city of about 20,000 people in the Calgary Region. It is largely a commuter town of Calgary and surrounds Chestermere Lake, a small reservoir that was constructed for irrigation and now used for recreation.

Janet is a hamlet in southern Alberta under the jurisdiction of Rocky View County. It is located on Township Road 240, approximately 13 km east of downtown Calgary, 5.9 km southwest of the City of Chestermere, and 3.2 km south of Highway 1A. Janet is situated 7 km southwest of Chestermere.
