Minami-za

Minami-za is the primary kabuki theatre in Kyoto, Japan. It was founded in 1610 as Shijō Minami-za. The current building, with a 1,086 seat capacity, was built in 1929. Minami-za is situated 140 metres southeast of Pontochō.

Gion-Shijō Station is a railway station in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Japan, which serves the Keihan Main Line and is operated by the Keihan Electric Railway. Gion-Shijō Station is situated 130 metres southeast of Pontochō.

Some of the most picturesque parts of Kyoto are located in Higashiyama, the eastern region of the city, across the Kamo River.
