It was the original seat of the County of Werdenberg in the Holy Roman Empire. Werdenberg Castle is situated 3 km northeast of Untere Galggen.

Buchs SG railway station is a railway station in Buchs, in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen. It is an intermediate stop on the Chur–Rorschach line and western terminus of the Feldkirch–Buchs line to Austria and Liechtenstein. Buchs SG railway station is situated 4 km northeast of Untere Galggen.

The Fulfirst is a mountain of the Appenzell Alps, located north of Flums in the canton of St. Gallen. It lies in the Alvier group, between the Walensee and the Rhine Valley. The Fulfirst has two summits: the Gross Fulfirst and the Chli Fulfirst. Fulfirst is situated 3½ km southwest of Untere Galggen.
