Vassouras is a municipality located in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro. Its population was 37,083 and its area is 552 km2. Vassouras was the setting for the Bangu neighborhood portrayed in the 1970 Brazilian film My Sweet Orange Tree, as well as the fictional town of "Florença" depicted in the 2001 miniseries Presença de Anita. Vassouras is situated 9 km north of Passa-Quatro.
