Areni Municipality, referred to as Areni Community, is a rural community and administrative subdivision of Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia, at the southeast of the country. Surb Astvatsatsin of Areni is a single-nave two-aisled domed church completed in the year 1321. It is located atop a plateau overlooking the Arpa River and the village of Areni in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia.

Arpi is a village in the Areni Municipality of the Vayots Dzor Province in Armenia. It is situated 8 km southwest of the Province center, on the right bank of the Arpa River. The Yerevan-Meghri interstate highway passes through the village. Arpi is situated 4 km east of Areni Municipality.
