Arrecife is the capital city of Lanzarote, with the island's airport and sea port, and a population in 2022 of 63,750. It's a workaday commercial and administrative hub with limited tourist sights, and most visitors are bussed straight from the airport to their beach resorts further along the coast.

Teguise is a town in the north of Lanzarote, with a population of 1776 in 2018. It was the island's capital until 1852 and is the seat of a municipality spanning the two coasts.

Yaiza is a village on the island of Lanzarote. It's the admin centre for the southern part of the island, but the main visitor attraction is that it's an access point for Timanfaya National Park, the only UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserve dedicated entirely to geology.
Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is a beach resort and ferry port on the south coast of Lanzarote, some 50 km southwest of the capital Arrecife. It's part of the municipality of Yaiza, but with a population of 12,960 in 2021 it has far outgrown that village.
Puerto del Carmen

Puerto del Carmen is a large tourist resort on the south coast of Lanzarote, a few km west of Arrecife the capital and airport. It has long sandy beaches which are more sheltered than the exposed north and west-facing coasts.
