Manawatu

The Manawatu is an area of the lower North Island of New Zealand. It is centred on the city of Palmerston North and a broad flat river plain, much of which has been formed by the mighty Manawatu river, one of the few rivers in the world to bisect a mountain range.

Palmerston North

Palmerston North is a city in the Manawatu district of the lower North Island of New Zealand. It's the home of the largest campuses of Massey University and the Universal College of Learning and also the Institute of the Pacific United, making Palmerston North a student-oriented city.
