Meteora
The monastery-crowned pillars of Meteora are among the most striking geological and cultural gems of Greece. The Monastery of Great Meteoron is a Greek Orthodox monastery near the town of Kalambaka, in the Thessaly region of central Greece. It is located at the top of a rocky precipice over 415 metres above the Pineios valley floor.

The Monastery of Saint Varlaam is a Greek Orthodox monastery in central Greece, situated in the Pineios Valley northeast of the town of Kalambaka. It is located at the top of a rocky precipice that is 373 metres above the valley floor.
